Who's in the Frame with Erica

Its been FRAMED: Black Pages a platform made to plug black creatives by  “document[ing] stories to inspire and debunk[ing] the complexities of the creative industry” - Essentially you go to yellow pages for black creatives. 

We invited Erica co-founder of Black Pages to discuss the intentions and values of the organization. In our latest interview with her she revealed the importance and uniqueness of their platform stating it is created to “offer tangible advice”. She also gave us an insight into the community and culture behind Black Pages - keep reading to find out more.

Black Pages is made up of a small team, with their co – founders being Erica and Jeanette, Tommy their photographer and Neil their videographer. This intimate group have friendship at the foundation of their working culture keeping them motivated and making the content they produce genuine and authentic. 

They are committed and passionate about what they do and are purposefully driven to create a “space where people can see people who look like them, that are being celebrated”. They pride themselves in praising black excellence, black talent and black creativity. In their “Chapters” series they interview “up and coming creatives who are still in a position to give advice” Erica explained that it is important these specific voices are heard because they are relatable, and their accomplishments feel achievable and within reach leaving the audience feeling inspired.

They're most recent chapter - Chapter 3 is centered around black women from all different kinds of professions including photographers, stylists, event producers and many more. This is the kind of recognition that we need in our community and should continue to push for.

From debunking myths to giving advice on how to create invoices, black pages are creating comfort spaces and a community where all black creatives a like can come together to learn and share wisdom.
